The Snowman Live

December 11, 2013

This Saturday we return to the big screen with a special family presentation of The Snowman, an Academy Award-nominated animation based on Raymond Briggs’ classic children’s book of the same name. A winter wonderland comes to life in this timeless story of a young boy’s magical friendship with a snowman, and as they travel across the world together kids also learn about the environmental impact of climate change. Children will delight to the magic of hearing the symphony perform Howard Blake’s beautiful soundtrack live with the film.

The program also features famous seasonal tunes and an audience sing-along. Our 2013-14 Conducting Fellow and West High senior J'Kalein Madison will make his professional debut conducting Sleigh Ride. Read more about the entire program over at the Courier or watch The Snowman in its entirety (The Snowman by Raymond Briggs by arrangement with © Snowman Enterprises Ltd 1982, 2012).

The 4 pm concert is preceded by a special free ‘Meet the Orchestra’ session in the GBPAC lobby starting at 3:15. wcfsymphony musicians will introduce their instruments and encourage kids to do their own music making at our always-popular Instrument Petting Zoo.

Don't miss this unique and memorable holiday event for audiences of all ages!
