Concert: Cedar Valley Christmas
Looking for the perfect way to usher in this holiday season? Join us as we partner for the first time with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley for a traditional Christmas carol sing-a-long combining choirs from across the Cedar Valley with the voices of you and your family. All seats are just $5. Participating vocal groups include Proud Image Chorus, Bel Canto Cedar Valley, Cedar Harmony, UNI Women’s Chorus, St. Edwards, Cedar Falls High School, Waterloo West High School, Grundy Center High School Chamber Choir, Western Home Communities Windy Hill Singers, and St. Lukes/Boys and Girls Club.
All proceeds benefit wcfsymphony and Boys and Girls Clubs music education programs, including new partnerships to bring Clubs youth to wcfsymphony concerts, and wcfsymphony musicians to the Clubs.
We are thrilled to collaborate with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley to help bring music instruction and participation to young people in our community. Learn more about the Clubs below.
The mission of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as responsible, caring, and productive citizens.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley uses the five core areas of programming to develop activites for Club Members which are a combination of safe, fun, and life changing:
Character & Leadership Development
Programs in Character and Leadership Development empower youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process and respect their own and others’ cultural identities.
Education & Career Development
Programs in Education and Career Development enable youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.
Health & Life Skills
Programs in Health and Life Skills develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
Programs in The Arts enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing.
Sports, Fitness & Recreation
Programs in Sports, Fitness and Recreation develop fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, appreciation for the environment and social skills.
