This guy! This weekend!
Join us on Saturday night for Tchaikovsky’s breathtaking First Piano Concerto with soloist Dror Biran. Dror and Artistic Director Jason Weinberger will briefly illuminate the concerto’s folk music roots and musical structure from the stage prior to performing it with the orchestra. Also featured are two equally ravishing works inspired by folk music, including Kodály’s dramatic and colorful transformation of a Hungarian folk song in his ‘Peacock’ Variations.
(Portrait of Tchaikovsky by Nikolai Kuznetsov from the final year of the composer’s life.)
