Sunday, June 29
3:45 p.m., Overman Park/Cedar Falls

This year marks the bicentennial of the birth of one of our country’s most courageous leaders, Abraham Lincoln. Our fourth annual summer concert at the Sturgis Falls celebration honors his enduring place in American history with a performance of Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait. This free outdoor concert also features Civil War-era music by Stephen Foster and others as well as a patriotic sing-along.

Saturday, December 13
2:00 p.m. & 7:30 p.m., Great Hall, Gallagher-Bluedorn

This year our annual holiday spectacular places the spotlight on the talented youth of the Cedar Valley as the young voices of the University of Northern Iowa Children’s Choir grace our stage for the first time in recent seasons. An audience sing-along and several famous numbers by Leroy Anderson, who was born 100 years ago, make for a perfect family celebration of the holidays.

Experience one of the most beloved films of all time, The Wizard of Oz, as never before. A technical marvel for the MGM studio in the late 1930’s, MGM has stunningly re-mastered this timeless classic. In the year of its 70th anniversary, the brilliantly restored film will be projected on a large screen above the stage and accompanied by your own WCFSO musicians. Hearing Judy Garland’s original 1939 studio recordings, backed by lush, live orchestration, will transport children and adults alike.
