  • 1st place: Jon Wolf from Ames, violin, playing 1st mvt. of Siblius' Violin Concerto
  • 2nd place: Esther Lee from Ames, violin, playing Saint-Saens Rondo & Capriccioso, Op. 28
  • 3rd place: Nina Bernat from Iowa City, sting bass, playing Dragonetti's Concerto for Dbl. Bass, 1st mvt.
  • Honorable Mention: Olivia Fabos Martin from Cedar Falls, cello, playing Elgar's Concerto in E minor, Op. 65, 4th mvt.

YACC chairs Jan Moore and Jo Capoccioni had this to say about the event:

We want to thank all of our participants for their hard work, perseverance and commitment to the high quality of playing that the judges heard today. We also want to thank parents, teachers, and other mentors who have helped to shape these wonderful young musicians into confident, strong and focused teens. As they say, it takes a village, and that is certainly true in the world of musicianship.

wcfsymphony Artistic director Jason Weinberger added that the quality of musicianship among our entrants continues to grow and improve. Congrats and bravi to everyone who participated in the 2014 YACC!
