Family Holiday Concert: The Snowman, Film with Live Orchestra

The Snowman is an Academy Award-nominated animation based on Raymond Briggs’ classic children’s book of the same name. Hear the symphony perform Howard Blake’s beautiful soundtrack – including its most famous song, Walking in the Air – live with the film. The 4pm concert is preceded by a special free ‘Meet the Orchestra’ session in the GBPAC lobby starting at 3:15.

The Snowman is a 26-minute animated film based on Raymond Briggs’ classic children’s book of the same name. The movie was nominated for an Academy Award on 1982 and has since become a Christmas classic enchanting new generations year after year. A winter wonderland comes to life in this timeless story of a young boy’s magical friendship with a snowman, and as they travel across the world together kids also learn about the environmental impact of climate change. Hear the symphony perform Howard Blake’s beautiful score - including its most famous song, Walking in the Air - live with the film.

The program also features famous seasonal tunes and an audience sing-along. Our 2013-14 Conducting Fellow and West High senior J'Kalein Madison, the first high school student to participate in the fellowship program, will make his professional debut conducting Sleigh Ride.

The 4pm concert is preceded by a special free ‘Meet the Orchestra’ session in the GBPAC lobby starting at 3:15. wcfsymphony musicians will introduce their instruments and encourage kids to do their own music making at the Instrument Petting Zoo.
