The Friends of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony supports the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony in a variety of ways. As an arm of the organization, it strives to carry out the mission of the symphony, in particular the educational goals.

The Friends of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony will present five Lollipop Concerts this season for children four to ten years old. They also sponsor the annual Young Artist Concerto Competition, awarding three winners with cash prizes. In addition, they facilitate the spring Youth Concerts, which offer over 5000 Northeast Iowa fourth, fifth and sixth graders the opportunity to witness a live WCFSO performance. For some of these students, it is their first time to ever hear and see the full orchestra. Months prior to these Youth Concerts, the guild compiles information about the music that will be played at the performances, making it available for classroom use to those teachers bringing students to the event. This educational material makes the concerts much more meaningful and rewarding to the young audience.

Before the November, February, March and April WCFSO classical concerts, member luncheons will be held. Speaking at these luncheons is WCFSO Music Director Jason Weinberger and, if available, the featured guest artist.

But perhaps the most ambitious project undertaken by the Friends of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony is its series of NOTABLE AFFAIRS parties, year-round fund-raising events that offer a unique theme for guests who have paid to attend. For more information on this season's Notable Affairs parties and current party openings, click here.

Supporting the projects of the Friends of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony is just one way to support the WCFSO. Each season, the guild provides the WCFSO a financial boost of at least $20,000.
